The Beginning of Beaverdam Pet Food

When Beaverdam pet food was started we considered quite a few different companies to make our products. With some good advice from an long time friend in the business, we picked the one that we felt had the reputation we wanted to

  • make a pet food that we could put the Beaverdam name on the bag,
  • know that we had the best that could be made regardless of the cost, and
  • not be concerned about trying to make a product and stay within a budget for the manufacturing cost. Several companies told me the cost of our ingredients would make the selling price too high. My comment was, "You make the product and let me price it".

My desire was not to see if we could have a low cost product and compete with outlets but to have a product that no one else had, or, at least, not too many companies offered. When I was told the cost of the pretty bags for a 20 lb. bag of pet food, with all the different colors, would cost more than the ingredients that went in the bag, my first reaction was "something is wrong with this picture". I was explaining the plans of coming out with a pretty bag in the future with a customer and she remarked, "We don't feed the bags to our pets. I just want to know what's in the bag". So the slogan began -- We Put Our Money in the Bag, Not On It !

Quality Ingredients

What we Don't use:

  • We do not use Soybean meal. Soybean meal is used to increase protein content and bulk in pet food. It is very difficult to digest and assimilate, especially in dogs who lack proper needed amino acids. It is known to cause gas buildup in the digestive tract and has been linked to bloat, a major killer of dogs today.
  • We do not use rendered meat products which can and does include pets put to death by euthanasia.
  • Wheat or Wheat Gluten

What we Do use:

  • Quality meat products
Chicken, Fish and Pork (pork is a hypoallergenic ingredient) which are all USDA inspected
  • (Organ Meat Only) Chicken by-product
The Chicken by-product meal Beaverdam is using is APHIS/EU Certified. The EU is much more strict that the United States when it comes to quality and regulations. the chicken by-product meal does NOT contain beaks, feet, pin feathers or intestines.
  • Pesticide free grains
All the grain used in our products are grown by area farmers and are free of pesticides from planting to harvest time
  • Naturally Preserved
All the formulas are preserved with mixed tocopherols, citric acid and rosemary extract
  • Chicory/Inulin
    A Digestive aid

BEAVER DAM PET FOOD IS MAKING PREMIUM PET FOOD

Affordable

Quality protein, fat and carbohydrates make Beaver Dam a highly digestible, nutrient-dense premium formula your dog will love

The 3 Most Digestible Meat Proteins

There are several quality levels for proteins. Our chicken protein comes from USDA inspected plants and there are no heads, beaks or feet, etc. Our meat protein is pork, again from USDA inspected plants. Our fish comes from clean ocean waters. There are no by-products.

Each animal protein has its own unique nutrient profile. Our formulas combine the optimum amount of each ingredient, and naturally balance amino acids, vitamins and minerals.

BEET-PULP: Humans need fiber in their diets, as do dogs (and horses, too). Silver Charm, the 1997 Kentucky Derby winner, received beet pulp in its diet. Current research shows beet pulp aids the growth of the good bacteria in the dogs digestive system, allowing the good bacteria to crowd out pathogens, like Ecoli.

BREWERS YEAST: an excellent source of B-vitamins. Numerous research studies shows brewers yeast contains several unidentified growth factors beneficial to dogs.

MULTIPLE SOURCES OF OMEGA 6:3: Fatty Acids for Superior Coat and Skin. Just as with the selection of our animal proteins and carbohydrates, we select natural ingredients for their value in enhancing a naturally healthy coat and skin. Fish meal. chicken meal and corn also contribute as coat and skin conditioners.

NATURALLY PRESERVED: All Beaver Dam formulas are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherol, citric acid and rosemary extract.

MULTIPLE SOURCES OF QUALITY GRAINS/CARBOHYDRATES: Animals, like people, require carbohydrates. In a true premium (meat-based) diet, however, an animal protein should be listed first on the ingredient panel. Corn or other carbohydrates should be listed after the animal protein (except for specialty diets).

CORN, RICE: Each Is Different, EACH IS GOOD!
Corn used in Beaver Dam is finely ground, It is purchased from a select group of area farmers, personally known to us for decades. No pesticides are used from the time the seed is planted until harvest.

The corn used in Beaverdam pet food is ground with a 0.60 screen making the meal talcum powder fine, and therefore the corn we use is 99% digestible. Regardless what any other pet food companies tell you, CORN IS NOT A FILLER.

The quality carbohydrates used in Beaver Dam are all selected for sound nutritional reasons, each makes a unique yet vital contribution to your dog`s health.
